Google search result success

I have often granted link love to in my personal blog to one blog more than all the others. This is not a small statement. I am free with the linky links. Just call me a warm and generous blogger.

No, it's not you, Skeet.

Sit down, Gloria. I know you are used to receiving all the prizes, but we already know you're great.

It's my dear husband's own sports blog, Juuust a bit outside. He started his first blog a bit ahead of me buying this domain; a little of two months back. I've been encouraging him to start a blog for almost the whole time I'd been blogging. He's a passionate, knowledgeable sports fan, so I knew he'd produce great content in his area.

I'm happy to report that his hard work, and my assistance, has already begun to pay off.

He's been writing extensively about the life threatening injuries of Bills tight end Kevin Everett sustained last Sunday. It just so happened that he was looking at his statistics on MyBlogLog
Thursday morning. The site provides a list of "referring" web sites. When Google appeared in the list, he discovered he'd had some success based on searches for spinal surgeon Dr Andrew Cappuccino.

Here is the screen shot of what we found on the second page of Google results:

It's a tad hard to see, however that is Chris's blog was thirteenth in the search results for the phase "Dr Andrew Cappuccino." More impressive is the fact that he was higher in the results than the Buffalo News articles.

Of course, Google is up to the minute. Today, he's not even in the top five pages.

Few searchers ever go past the first page of results.

However, it is gratifying  to know that the work of blogging pays off. Even just one hit from Google search results is a big deal for a young blog.

Chris and I have been working under the ideal that both content and networking are equally important in making a blog sucessful. For him, networking involves getting out on the web in places where sports fans gather, like ArmchairGM, in addition to using MyBlogLog and Blogcatalog.

Here is to Google success, however fleeting, and back to writing and networking, and networking and writing.
